Description

Tandy TRS-80 Modell 1

Release 1977 | End of Production 1981

The Tandy TRS-80 Model 1 from RadioShack was one of the first home computers, along with the Apple II and the Commodore PET 2001. It was developed by Steve Leininger for Tandy and was one of the first computers to be produced in large quantities. The basis was a Z80 CPU from Zilog, with a clock frequency of 1.77 MHz and 4 KB RAM memory. The ROM contained the operating system in the form of the BIOS and the integrated BASIC. Via an expansion interface it could be extended with 32 KB RAM, a floppy disk controller for up to four 5.25 inch floppy disk drives and a serial and parallel interface.
